KEVIN CHEONG

PRINCIPAL | P.Eng., RCDD, LEED AP

I am a Principal at AES with nearly 40 years of experience delivering design, construction services, and technical studies and reports across legal, insurance, health care, educational, residential, commercial, industrial, manufacturing, and transportation sectors. My career has been rooted in a deep understanding of codes and standards and technology, supported by my over quarter century designation as a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD), the most widely recognized credential in information communications technology.

Throughout my career, I have served in numerous technical and advisory roles, including as a voting member of BICSI’s Standards Committee and Codes Sub‑committee, and previously on the Grounding and Bonding Committee. I have contributed extensively to CSA standards development, serving on the Technical Committee and Sub‑committee on the Application of Electricity in Health Care, the Canadian Electrical Code Section 38 Subcommittee, and the CSA B44 Technical Subcommittee, where I also chaired the B44 NBCC Task Force. My municipal and provincial involvement includes serving as Vice‑Chair of the City of Vancouver Building Board of Appeal representing APEGBC (Electrical), participating in the City’s In‑building Antenna Committee, and contributing to the BC Safety Authority’s Electrical Code Adoption Committee and related working groups.

Internationally, I represent Canada on the IEC TC69 / JWG20 EV Power Transfer / Vehicle‑to‑Load technical committee and support ChargePoint (US/Canada) Inc. on NFPA and other codes and standards. I have also been a frequent presenter at NFPA, CSA, BICSI, CHES and other industry events in British Columbia, nationally and internationally, sharing insights on evolving codes & standards, topical issues, industry best practices, and the future of electrical and communications systems.
