Wesbrook YMCA Child Care

The Wesbrook Village Childcare Centre project is located on the UBC campus in Vancouver, BC. The 7,000 square foot facility forms an extension to the existing Westbrook Village Community Centre and provides space for approximately 49 children. The centre is a one-storey building with dedicated outdoor play space and is part of UBC's Child Care Expansion Plan (CCEP) which provides a framework to deliver on the university's childcare policy commitments and address both long range needs and projected neighbourhood demand.

This project was one of the first buildings on campus to address the UBC Green Building Action Plan strategies in energy, water, materials and resources, biodiversity, health and wellbeing, and climate adaption. Features include large roof overhangs to aid in thermal cooling, energy-efficient building envelope, energy use monitoring systems, and abundant use of locally-sourced natural materials such as wood.
